We provide breakfast each morning which consists of cereals and toasts with spreads and the children will help in preparing their own food with milk on offer to drink also. There is also afternoon tea each day which always will have a platter of fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, and then a freshly prepared meal such as sandwiches, wraps, pastas, rice, pikelets, etc. Late snack is provided for children still at the service after 5:30pm and is some light crackers and milk. During the holidays, we will also provide morning tea which consists of our seasonal fruit platter with crackers and dips. Fresh water is always available on site in our indoor and outdoor spaces.
Mr. Jake has developed a sports program that will run each term and will focus on a different sport each term. This sports program will run 2 mornings and 3 afternoons each week. In this specifically designed sports program, children will learn key skills for each sport as well as develop their team work and social skills. There will also be a variety of other sports equipment available each day for children to choose from. We will also be including children's input about their favourite sports into our program as well as including specific physical activities to support children's physical development.
Children are creative beings and have such wide imaginations that we want to channel into various creative outlets. In our program, we will provide art and craft, music, drama and dance through games, dedicated art spaces, music in our indoor space and our incursions during our holiday program. We know that children are able to express themselves through being creative and we want to encourage children to express themselves in a positive way.
We want to help children learn and develop positive ways to express themselves emotionally and engage with others in a socially respectable manner. To promote this learning, we will have a calming space available for children who just need some time for themselves, encourage participation in group activities and provide relaxation time as part of our morning and afternoon routine. Sometimes our relaxation time will involve yoga, or some music meditation or it could be a calming group game to practice our turn taking and listening skills.
We want to encourage learning in all areas of life and we can support this through providing challenging learning experiences as part of our daily program. This includes science experiments, puzzles, board games, as well as encouraging children to participate in cooking experiences. We also provide homework support and for children with external support such as speech therapists or OT's, we welcome them to come to our service to further support your child in partnership with us.
The world we live in is the only world we have, and we want to encourage children to show responsibility to the world. In our service, we promote sustainable practices such as being water-wise and the three R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). We also will have various sustainable learning experiences such as gardening, learning about various life cycles, excursions to the zoo during the holidays and participating in events such as Clean Up Australia Day.
We understand the importance of children also having free time to just be themselves and we ensure that throughout our morning and afternoon programs as well as our holiday programs that there is plenty of opportunities for children to pick their own learning experiences. Through allowing children to pick their own experiences, they get to choose what skills they want to learn and develop which is just as valuable as any other learning experience we provide. Children also have the opportunity each week to provide input into our programmed experiences.
